Hello, I have a 100g(60" x 22" x 18'') planted community tank that I want to add angels too. I have been reading and want to add 4-6 baby angels. My question is if and when they form a pair and start spawning will they terrorize the whole 5 foot tank or just a small area of it? Too bad they are diffucult to sex or else I would just get all females and not worry about it :)
Thanks for any help

They will establish a small area when they spawn. Provided the tank is very spacious, the other tankmates won't be endangered.

Thanks for the reply.

How many angels should I get? Getting a lot of different info from websites. Not planning on breeding them purposely just want a few, but enough so the weak one doesnt get bullied constantly.

So far I have 5 cories, 6 platies, 10 wild/feeder guppies in my 100 gallon, it looks pretty empty. I know I run the risk of the angels eating the guppies but I have a lot of cover and wouldnt mind if they got eaten since they are babies I grew out from my other tank.

Just had that problem, I was away and a pair started spawning, 2 other angels were dead and one was in bad shape the rest of the smaller fish was in hiding. Had to trade the pair.
Now just got 3 more mid size and will keep an eye.

Well, you might even wind up with two pairs.

I think in that size tank you should be fine with 5-6, but it really depends in the individual angel. Some are much more aggressive than others. One thing I would do is have plenty of tall plants for the others to retreat to. If a pair turns out to be far too aggressive, you could perhaps trade them to your LFS for credit.

small area for a pair...LOL

luckily you have a large tank (100 g) but you can expect to lose 25% of the tank if not more.
much will depend on the pair..I have a pair that take half of a 55(48" tank)

they will defend thier territory up/down/sideways

6 is a good place to start with a school, but more is better in terms of aggression within the school. if they start to pair off, then you will have to take the pair out of the tank if you want to keep the entire tank free for all of the fish. otherwise, as star_rider said, the angels may take up quite a bit of the tank.

Thanks again for all the help. I think I will get 6, If I get a pair Ill try and get some nice slanted rocks on the ends of the tank so hopefully they spawn there :) Worst case I can buy a new tank or try to rehome them.
