Any idea how many pounds that is? Also, can you list any types of algae or diseases you've ever had in your tank? Kind of worrisome to get used gravel.

true it can be killed with bleach. but all the wonderful bacteria that comes with new packages of eco complete will also get killed. thanks for the dibs, chunkylover.
hm...trying to calculate the weight...2.5 gallons worth of eco complete will give a little over a 3" layer in a 10g. One guy I know used 3 bags for 29g which is little under twice the square inches needed to be covered. So I'm gonna guess 20-30 lbs.
Another user is selling me some soilmaster so I'm just gonna go with that. Dibs go to you, chunkylover.

it has been out of my main tank for good 6 months, but has been kept moist and cold. there is no benefisial bacteria left alive. so you want to have good bio filter if you want to change to this gravel.

bleaching would be the only way to go if getting gravel that has been in any fresh water tank. make sure to rinse well and use Prime. i haven't had any obvious problems with my tank and fish when this gravel has been used, maybe green water algae. i don't believe that anything could live for so long without fish but who knows maybe something is dorment at the moment, so i recomend bleaching. let's put it this way. since i had this gravel, i had another used gravel that i got from someone (i didn't bleach it), after few months i gave all gravel, fish and 75 gallons tank to a friend, he put the gravel and everything right in and now few months later none of his fish died. all he did was rinsed the gravel with water. i recomend bleaching just in case though, unless you know for sure that nothing survived for over 6 months in a bucket.

Does that mean that the eco complete doesnt have anymore nutrients in it???How much is it for the bucket, shipping, and weight?

it doesn't have all the beneficial bacteria but it still has Calcium. it would work for someone with clams. can't beneficial bacteria grow back up in it? i don't know how much for shipping, but if too much you can have the gravel for free. i'm not planning on using it and soon i'll convert my discus tank into salt water tank. i had the gravel for some time because i didn't know if i was going to use it again. it's pretty much if you need gravel for clams and if you like the look of black.

Free, huh? lol, if chunky decides not to take it, I think I might. At least whatever would fit in a flat rate box. Where are you shipping from?

Yea, that'd be killer shipping for 40-60 pounds. I'll take a flat rate box full if chunky doesn't take it.

i'll give it to whoever wants it. but of cause, the least amount of work i have to do to get rid of the gravel, the better it is. so, Bugsy, if you want it, let's just meet. i'll be available after Wed. next week because of tests at college. i can leave it for you at the door to pick up if you want it sooner.
I'll leave it up to you how you wish to dispose of it.
You can send me a PM and we can work out the details.
