i just found like 10-20 fry swimming in the top of my tank! i captured 4 of them in my net and have them in the same tank just they are in my net. what i'm curious about is, are they guppy fry? or could they be lab or socolofi fry? they don't look like guppy fry, but i guess i can't really be 100% about that.

have you seen either the lab or the socolofi holding babies?

and as far as i know, the guppies (only females) had all of their babies which were eaten quickly by my cichlids.

My best guess would be guppy fry, but then again most new born fry tend to look alike. It's hard to tell from the pic, since your viewing it from above. Probably hard to get a good pic in the breeder net. What type of fish do you have in this tank?

Are they from your tank? If so, whats in your tank? Its hard to just guess when alot of fry look pretty similar.....

Stop buying fish. I am guessing they are africans, hence they are in the cichlid forum and you keep africans.

I agree, it's pretty much impossible when the guesses are endless... they all look alike if you ask me too.... what is in your tank?

Identifying them should be fairly easy, even with 1-day old fry:
Mbuna dorsal fins run practically the full length of the body (starts just aft of the head and stops shortly before the tail); the dorsal of guppy fry is much different.
Comparison of 1-day old mbuna and guppy fry:
