My Koi Angel has spawned on my filter, nothing strange there you say,
but the thing is she's the only Angel in the 30g (imp).
I've had Angels do this before but they always had a partner,
I've even seen two females go through the spawning ritual.
The only other fish in the tank with her are a baby bristle nose
and two laser cories, i'm sure they didn't entice her to spawn lol.
So does anyone have a theory on why she spawned on her own?
oris she just hinting at me to find her a partner, lol
Thanks for your thoughts on this.
Mike.

Maybe she just filled with eggs and needed to get rid of them. Strange as this sounds, it happens. Possible alternative, get her a male and try raising the young.

^while you're shopping, get a flat slate rock, lean it against a quiet corner of the tank - to prevent another filter egging.

if you can identify a male angel(good luck on that) adding one will just increase the aggression in the tank.

adding a piece of slate to a tank does not mean the angels will spawn on the slate..mine still prefer the powerhead over anything I place in the tank.

it is not uncommon for a female to deposit eggs particularly if she was part of a breeding pair.

some may deposit eggs even if they never had a partner.

if you want fertilized eggs.. you will need to try the usual method to find a pair..get 2-4 more angels and place them in the tank..when a pair forms remove the other angels. or move the pair to a breeding tank.
