Thinking about purchasing copepod cultures

I have a Bio Cube 8, in which I use the 2 compartments in the back for liverock placement.
Now it is NOT a refugium of ANY SORT, since there is no light for the liverock in the back.
So I'm just wondering if it's possible keep a copepod culture alive in an environment full of liverock but no micro or macro algae?

If you set up a pile of rubble for them they'd be OK.

I am not sure about all of the copepods as that is a very large group. But many of them will live in liverock as well as macroalgea.
