Ok, so i have a well established 25 gallon tall and its beautiful!! my girlfriend is getting me a 55 gallon and i was curious as to how i would go about getting evrything in the new tank. I mean can i just fill it up and place all my stuff in there?or use the water from the old tank? and could i use 2 24 inch 96 watt t5 fixtures on it? because i already got one?

If I was going to do that I would:

1st move the LR

2nd remove the fish, coral, invert, ect from the 25 and put them either in a spare bucket or bag.

3 move the sand *that way if you hit a nitro. pocket the fish are safe*
_plus if you have any fish that burrous (ie engineer) the lr is on the glass and not the sand_

(assuming you already have premixed water w/ the same salinity and ph as the 25g)

4 adjust temp of the water accordingly

5 temp aclimate fish/coral/invert/ ect

6 release

I would prob use as much equipment from the 25g as possible on the 55g (filters, powerhead) just so you can keep as much BB as poss. you can always take out once things stabilize. I wouldnt use "old" tank water in the new 55g. Lighting shouldnt be an issue doing what you are planning

Ok thanks for the direction! so ill need more aragonite. Should i throw my tank sand on top of the new sand? Ive got an aquaclear 50 now i use that one and get another one? and is there going to be a dangerous re-cycling or out of controll chemistry swings that would kill my buttons, brain coral, shrimps or fish?

I helped up grade a few tanks and what I always do is
1. Do a few WC's and save the old water for the new tank that way you will be putting in mostly seasoned water.
2. Add new argonite sand and then just take like the top inch of the sand out of the established tank to put on top of the new sand.
3. Add your LR
4. Add your PH's and heater
5. Acclimate your fish and corals and put them in.
I would try to upgraed the lights to 4 54 watt T-5's but the 2 24 watters will work but might limit you on some things you might want to keep. With this being a new tank I would consider getting it drilled and running your 25 or a 29 gallon as a fuge they are a great place to keep a skimmer and heaters and a place to grow macro to help reduce nutrients and for added water volume. Oh and before starting in on the sand or rocks move your corals and fish into a holding bin or tank until done. You may see a minor cycle but it shouldnt cause any real problems for you
