I recently purchased a trio of Compressiceps. They are FO and are all between 3-4 1/2 inches. This is my first attempt at spawning my fish. I have also purchased a "Calvus/Comp Breeding Cave." ? Also...they are in a 55-gallon with a few other types of fish, (peacocks, etc.) However, they are by far the largest fish in the tank; all the others are juveniles. What type of behavior should I be watching for that would signal that they've spawned? What type of care do the fry require? I'm totally new to this and all advice is very much appreciated. Thanks so much. :)

Comps and Calvus arent too difficult to breed. Like most Rift lake cichlids, if you give them the right environment, they will do their thing. I have kept them both for several years now, and was never able to get them to spawn until introducing some large shells into their tank. They are also very slow growers. I really dont know at what size they will spawn. Mine were aound 4 1/2".
Sometimes waterchanges can trigger it, but in my case it took a fasting period of about 4 days, then a generous feeding of live mosquito larvae. Best of luck to you.
