I get good growth with 2 2L bottles on my 55 gallon. Very happy with the DIY yeast reactor BTW. Good results, minimal expense and effort. Let us know how it works for you.

I'm using one 2 liter bottle for a 29 gallon, with gelatine as the sugar source and wine yeast. The gelatine contains 1/2 cup of sugar and lasts about 2 - 3 weeks.

does any one know about how long until the ph starts to change after adding co2?

Well, a gereral rule is 1 bottle for about 25 gallons.(made up by me) ;)

It depends how effectively you dissolve the CO2 into the water. I wen't from about 7.2 to 7 in a day after shaking the bottles and putting the top of a soda bottle in so the bubbles go trapped there and none were wasted.

I use one on a 25, and just saw a huge increase in CO2 now that it goes into the intake of the canister filter. Maybe too much, with pH down to 6.2-6.4 (kH 4), and plants pearling like crazy.
Lasts about 2 weeks.

You should probably see a pH drop after the first night.
good luck

i tested my ph today and it was about 6.7 it droped from 7.0. i am going to get the gh and kh test some time this week. i want to keep my water at 7.0 so i will add some bakers soda to my next yeast mixture. i am figuring this all out before i add my fish so everything will be right for them.

You should add the baking soda to the tank, not to the diy co2 canister.
good luck

Why do you want to have your ph at 7? What fish are you planning on adding?

i want to start off with some easy breeding fish. like some guppys swordtail zebra's and some other fish still not 100% but most of them say that they like Slightly Alkaline ph so i want to try to keep it at 7.0
