Maybe 9 months ago I grabbed a striped nerite for my 7gal planted.
He's been going along, doing his thing, being happy and snail like. Now, I've noticed a distinct change in his shell pattern. From fine, straight lines to radically thick squiggly bands. The two colors are seperated by a ridge in his shell.

I'm guessing it's the change in diet? He's eating algae and two different brands of wafers.
He's massive now, so I know he's not starving...

Any other guesses as to why the change?

have you had any temperature fluctuations in your tank?

It needs calcium. That could be what's causing this. Msjinkzd posted some great recipes.

Nope, temperature has been really stable.
But calcium problems? That would make sense. Special snail food it is!

LOL. I've finally decided that my brigs don't like the fruity baby food (for the snail jello). So I'm gonna stick to the veggies (baby food).
