So, I have two five gallon tanks. One with five fish (2 platies, male beta, 2 otos), and one with two (juvinile brichardi). The two fish are less than two inches each, the five fish are all full grown.
obviously the brichardis are sitting in high alkaline water (7.8-8.0) and the algae grows like crazy in there!
Not too much algae in the other tank (and no, the otos don't eat it all!)
Does anybody know why algae is more prolific in high alkaline, hard water?
