View Full Version : Green water or Bacterial Bloom

First I thought I had a bacterial bloom from overfeeding, now I think it is an algae bloom. I think the lighting in the tank makes it look grey.

When I look at the tank with lights on, it is white/grey, but when I just changed the water, found it to be green.

Am I correct to assume that this is actually an algae bloom that I have been waiting out (mistakenly believing it was bacterial...)?

Thanks,
Steve

If you draw a glass of water and hold it in front of a sheet of white paper, you'll easily be able to tell if it's algae or not.

Jim,

It's definitely green (white wash tub)...is there something else (by looking thru glass) that I should see?

Thanks,
Steve

Green means algae. Too long a photoperiod, too rich in nutrients. You know the drill.
