View Full Version : is my fish holding or is something wrong with it?

i never saw my fish spawn, but today i noticed this weird thing under my largest socolofi's jaw that stretches back to right below where its gills are. its not eating, and it has become so much more aggressive than usual. i'm going to get pics up asap, but is it possible from the description i gave you to at least predict what might be going on? (also this is the largest fish in my tank)

see that strap of excess "skin" under its mouth? and i'm sorry that the pics are kind of blurry.
It does seem carrying eggs or fry.:)

Yes, it does appear to have eggs. Seeing it be the first time, she may spit them or eat them.

They are still babies themselves. Wait till they get 4-5 inches. Youll have 50-70 babies coming every month with good water.

all of my other fish are scared of her and seem very stressed. my other socolofi has been hanging towards the top of my tank lately. is it okay?

Nah, after seeing the pics, she is about 2 and a half. If they were 4 inches, they would have killed everything in the 29.

Haha...I agree with that. Socolofi are serious bullies, or atleast that was my experience with them. They bully each other and the other fish. You should definitely upgrade your tank before they reach maturity. You'll have a killing spree on your hands if you leave them in the 29g. ;)
