I have a regular Fluorescent Fixture. It can take a T8 or T12.

I was looking at a T-12 Uri Actinic would that be better than the skinnier T-8?

(also, which brand would you recommend)

since they are on a normal florecent fixture, it really doesnt matter if they are t-8 or t-12. I also personaly dont think there is too much of a difference between the brands. Just make sure you get the type you want. IE: the 470 or the 420 nm.

If I remember right the T-8's do have a slightly higher par rating than the T12's but with actinic that shouldnt be an issue as far as what brand bulb I prefer coral life bulbs because they are usually cheaper than the URI and I think they do just as good a job but hey thats JMO

also, another thing to mention. i'm assuming you are looking to do corals since this is in the reef section. You are ddefinatly goign to want more lighting before adding pretty much all photosynthetic corals. And if you are just looking for actinics, the lumens put out are MUCH less than other types of lighting so you may not even notice it. I tried putting a coralife magtinic on my 10 gallon with a halide over it and you couldnt even tell it was on when the halide was on with it.

I have a 45w PC on the 15 gallon tank now. I just wanted to boast the light. I would think a 15w Actinic would help, right?

how many PCs? you wouldnt notice it too much when the rest of the PCs are on. Plus, it really isnt going to put that much more PAR in your tank. your best bet is getting another PC, IMO.
