View Full Version : What is this on the sides of my tank

This is all over the sides of my tank. Brownish green algea like stuff.
Also white spots, that look like snow flakes.

Looks like deitrus caught on hair algae to me. The green film could be green film algae or if difficult to get off, green coraline. I can't make out the white spots, maybe calcium?

I've seen some great photos of them online. I remember seeing 2 in my tank early on, but never again.

they arent bad unless youa re keeping anything super delicate such as pixie seahorses. And even then, only those who are super strict about it will say they are bad. Those and normal hydroids, which is why many people who keep pixies will not use live sand and will use base rock when starting up a tank. otherwise, they really dont do anything and their populations will rise as fall in cycles along with your tank. no needd to worry, almost everyone has them.
