I wouldnt think so. I figure he would need more room to swim. They are very active.

A Dwarf Flame back would be fine in a tank like that. It may be a little small, but I had a coral beauty in my 30 and it was perfect!

Texanstone is correct, as far as most people figure. A 29 is a bit small for a Flame. It is fine to be housed with the clowns though, just in a bigger house.
Although, minimum tank sizes have been established for various fish, it still seems a bit arbitrary to me. Some say a particular fish can be just fine in a 6 foot long tank but it would be torture to put it in a 4 foot long tank. I don't know. I'm sure a Sohal can't reach full speed in even a 10ft long tank and surely not have enough room to turn around and keep going to even come close to any real world environment that might give it the same amount of exercise it would have in the ocean.
I have a little 75g and used to think it was a big tank but after keeping a lot of different fish, I am of the opinion that all Tangs and most all but pygmy angels should be kept in a 6-8 foot long tank or longer or more of a square tank. I was in a Bass Pro store today that has a FW tank that is roughly 35ft x 4ft x 5ft and was thinking, "what a waste of space, this would make one awesome reef or fish only for a few schools of anthias and tangs. Oh well, even a tank 35 ft long might seem confining to some tangs.

Compatibility is probably not an issue... But the tank size might be.... I wouldn't say that it's unreasonably small, but 29 might be slightly pushing it in my opinion.
If you do choose to keep one though, make sure there are plenty of live rocks with cracks and holes. From what I've seen, they like to swim in between rocks than in the open water.

I too would suggest a flameback or a cherub...they stay a bit smaller.
However, if you are only going to keep 3 fish and can make plenty of caves and places for the angel to explore, it'd probably do ok. You'd be best to get a real small one though.

We have had a flame and 2 clowns in a 20 long for about 8 months now, all seem happy and well. They are going into a 75 soon, but not due to any ill effects in the small tank. The flame zips about through holes and cracks, no problems.

perfectly stated I think my tangs need more room in my tank. Maybe one day I can stumble apon a 500+ G tank. Although my lfs was selling a 750G for 2G's Not bad wish I had the $$$ and more importantly the space!!!

Yes to flame and clowns, yes to need a bigger tank.
Comment on tank size recommendations with tangs: ALWAYS think bigger than the minimum when it comes to tangs. I have a 100, 5 ft. long tank and am feeling somewhat guilty about having my Hippo in there. a Yellow tang is ok though, they are not the racing type, not like the powders and the hippos anyways.
