Just thought I would come back to see what has been going on with the forum, and to comment on the hybrid I have been trying to grow out in the past couple of months. The flowerhorn is a male with as much electric blue spangling as anyone could want in a large cichlid. I am sad that most hobbyists shun a fish like mine for they are a part of the hobby also. Comments anyone?

Flowerhorns are awesome IMO. I would own one hands down. Just I have no room and have alot more fish I'd rather own first :p

I can't see a problem with Flowerhorns either. Its not like they are ugly or anything. I you want a real ugly fish take a look at parrot cichlids or fancy goldfish yuk. And whatsmore their ugliness even causes them problems with swimming, eating, breeding and so on.

How can you have an exception to not liking hybrids? I don't think I'd have as much of a problem with FHs if stores would correctly label fish and make sure they aren't getting some sort of hybrid that they sell as Trimacs.

Thanks for the input everyone,I have had a lot of fish in my time as a hobbist but there are so many fish, so little space that it is hard to stick to a hard fast rule of what to keep in my home. I have not had the chance to set up the new home for my flowerhorn as yet, probably a 75 gal or so, but it is coming in a couple of weeks and should hold him for awhile. Anyway it is an excellent way for me to have another grow out tank.
