My big oscar isnt looking to good! He was fine 10 min ago and now hes laying on the bottom of the tank. I did a w/c of 60% yesterday. The tank is clear the best my tank has ever looked. I cant do levels because im out of test liquids and I spent all my money on christmas! The temp did drop to 70 because some reason my apt lost heat over night. I keep it at 80!! can anyone help? ~mike

I had a new albino in QT for several weeks, put him in a 90 with a lemon oscar, tank had been up 6 mos.

Both fish identical in size, 3- 3 1/2"

48 hrs later, the albino was flat as a pancake, drifting on the substrate. All parameters between the tanks were identical, in all aspects. No fighting at all between them, they huddled together like fry.

Ran 30-40% WC all day and into the night.....everything has been great since then.

Not sure what it was all about, just know it worked.

Ill try it. I did notice that that he has been swimming more. The tank temp is up to 76 now. all of my fish are doing well. no side effects to the jump in temp. I also put another heater from one of my other tanks in so If the heat stays off for much longer they will remain at 80F. It might run up the power bill but when it comes to saving the life of my fish money is no object.

My Oscar always lays on the bottom for about 10 minutes after a water change . He just sits there staring at me all grumpy looking.

believe it or not oscars "sulk" lol. if you ever notice sometimes when you get a new oscar they will sit on the bottom for a week sometimes, but they will come around. it doesn't mean they are sick. they are just scared/stressed. but yours on the other hand i dont know about, just give him sometime and if he doesnt come off of the bottom then try to up the aireation and do w/c's.

Today my lemon oscar is doing much better. I think the water changes helped alot. I might even say that they are sensitive to lower water temps. After every w/c he seemed to be getting better. When I saw Him laying on the sand I freaked. I went up to the tank to see if he was ok then he turned to me like billy the talking bass and the look he gave me was like he was saying "help me!" so I jumped into action. My lemon oscar and I thank you all for the help!!

Number of times aquariacentral has saved my fish 3
