Party Games

Guys, looking for some help...I'm the party games organiser this year again for Xmas...anybody got any good games they suggest (without props)?

ok, for work?..or family?..and what are your age groups, i can def help, just need some info!

do you want active games, that require movement, or thinking games, ..where they can sit, and write?..and what do you mean by no props?..things you have to go buy?, or will you do games, with stuff, you actually have around the house?..

pin the tail on the reindeer
who can unwrap a present the fastest
try to find the "special" hidden ornament on the chrismas tree
who can beat "santa" in a wrestling match
how much egg-nog can you chug competition

that's all i got...

judge, sounds like your my man!!!

want a mixture of active and thinking ones, more on the active side though

ages will vary from 15 to 75 (1 x 15, 2 x 16, 1 x 17, 2 x 30's, 2 x 40's, 4 x 70's) all family

stuff around the house is great, not stuff to buy though, don't have time to go and get

thanks!

In college we used to play a game called zoom-schwartz-profigliano-biederman .... required no props other than a beverage. Whoever screwed up imbibed.

Actually found a description/rules online: http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node=Zum-Schwartz-Profigliano-Biederman

The rules talk about a 'watcher'. We never had one, and we never kept score....once again, whoever screwed up imbibed, that's it. Think all the players may have clapped in rhythm while they were playing, but it's been so long that I can't really remember now.

Edit: just noticed that you're looking for family games. This can be a family game if you just keep score (in place of imbibing). Or you can just have the youngters imbibe soft drinks until they all get stomach aches. :)

Ok, well, first, i would be your WOMAN, lol..but its all good;)

OK, First game I would suggest , would be to wrap empty boxes, with at least three layers, and use put holders, any kind, just to cover their hands, and make them race to see who can unwrap the layers faster with pot holder covered hands. This is always very funny, to watch (older) people do, ..many laughs, ...

Second ..take 4 pieces of christmas decorations, and put them in 4 corners of whatever room you will be playing the games in, ...cut out pieces with the names of the 4 objects on, and draw them out of the hat, using a stereo play music for a few minutes and have them each choose corners, ..stop the music, and draw out a object, and that corner is eliminated, ..put paper back in hat, and repeat, until only one person is left.

this is always one of my favorites, ..http://www.scoutingweb.com/ScoutingWeb/SubPages/ChristStryRL.htm if needed, you can embellish( or change, i usually do..) the story, bags of cookies, and ornaments make great prizes...I usually use an empty wood wreath, and fill it with lollipops, and color the bottom of however many prizes i will be using, to designate who gets to hold the gifts first.

you can use brown paper bags, and fill them with christmas objects, ..candycane ornaments, stocking, cookie cutters , fill as many bags as you choose, and have them guess whats in the bags, without looking, you set a time limit, and they have to write it down...

Make a quick word scramble, use the other side of the blank paper from the brown bag game, ...1 poster board( or regular paper) that every one can see, use words like merry christmas, except don't use the spaces, makes it a little more difficult..caroling, ornament, ..ect, ..

Pin the tag on teh present, a tie makes a good blind fold, and all you have to do, is use a square of wrapping paper, and some actual stickie gift tags, ..very easy, fun, and low key

give each person a card when they arrive, with a christmas "gift" written on it, they have to give hints throughout the party, without telling anyone what they are, ..the person who guesses correctly who everyone is, is the winner

Musical chairs, always very fun, except, ..we do it with wrapping paper squares on the floor, ..funny to watch the older people push the younger ones out of the way, to stand on a square

christmas charades, ..easy..write down some stuff, ..have them draw it out of a hat, ...

christmas win loose or draw, same rules, an egg timer, only make the cards christmas themed

ornament toss, similar to an egg toss, you use PLASTIC ornaments, ..when they hit the floor, your done...

Ornament passing, tuck a plastic ornament under their chin, make them pass it to their team mates, down the line, using no hands, ..if the drop it, they have to pick it up, and start from the front of the line again, ..to make it quick, i usually just geive each team six.

wrap up several boxes, with the tops cut out, ..slice teh paper where the top isint have them guess whats in the box, ..put abnormal stuff, ..bathroom supplies are always a hoot! make a story to go along with the boxes, ..billys family is having guests, ., grandpa arrived first, and he took off his gloves and ran to the bathroom..only to find...

if none of these work, let me know, i have a zillion more;)

Umm... if you've got a large house and an equally large number of children (aged around 12-15)... you can play this adaptation on Gang Up Tiggy me and my cousins play called Zombie. It's just basically gang-up tiggy, but those who are 'it' have to groan and drag their legs (imitate zombies). If the owner of the abode is somewhat house-proud, don't even think about playing this game (there's lots of running in/around doors, you could always place restrictions on certain areas though)... it's a freakin' bucketload of fun.
