I just got the orange green polyp ricordia from my LFS today and it was beautiful there i got it home and acclimated it for over an hour and it's folded up and it wasn't attached to a rock ....is this normal behavior until it gets used to my tank? i can't put it nowhere becuase it is all folded up like a hot dog bun. it is in my sand bed right now :help::help::help::help:
It is a fresh cut? Not attached to anything? If so try putting it in a container with some rubble in the display. It should attach to one of the pieces and then you can glue that to another piece of rock.

i don't think its a new cut, its around 6 inches in diameter and has three or four mouths

What she means is did it come attached to some sort of substrate already or was it loose when you bought it? A lot of times an LFS will have rics that they "fresh cut" off their main colony and simply have them loose. You buy them that way and attach them to the rock of your choice.
In any regard, Grins is right (as usual), get a plastic tupperware of some sort, punch holes in it, but in some small rock pieces and let it sit in that for a couple of weeks. It should attach and then you can place it anywhere you want.
Also, not uncommon for rics to close up for a day after acclimating. How did you acclimate... drip method?

4 yr old Maroon Clown, Lawnmower Blenny, Sand Goby, and a Chromis..... My Foxface Lo is like "Meh, whatever" :D
Let me guess, the maroon is the boss of the tank.

Lol you guess it right...even though the Foxface holds his own. She comes near the Foxface he puts his spikes up and she'll back down....it goes on for a while till she finally gives up

stab the ric w/ a toothpic and stab it to a rock.
3-4 days later, remove toothpic

In my experience with ricordea, stabbing it isn't warranted. The appropriate method is either to attach the ric to a substrate by 1) putting it in a container with holes for low water movement with some rubble and it will attach in a few days (4or5) or 2) use superglue gel and put it on the desired rock. While 2 works, you have to dry off the spot where you are applying the gel (rock and ric) and it stresses them out. If you don't dry them it won't work, usually.
Stick with what Grins told you and it will turn out fine. Ric's can be a little tempermental at first.
But IMO DO NOT STAB IT WITH A TOOTHPICK. If you decide to I would be most interested in a photo of once you "stab it into a rock".
Again, method 1 is preferred (IMHO)
