Hi guys, need some cory advice.
I've got 5 peppered cories in a 55g. They are quiet happy, the largest is maybe almost 2 inches, though more likely 1.5. The smallest was about an inch.
I saw a julli at the LFS that was gorgeous. Butit was at least 2.5-3 inches long.
Would he be happy in with my cories or would they totally ignore each other? He was by himself in the tank at the LFS (well there were cherry barbs).
Thanks

It's not set in stone. Sometimes they will school together. Other times they won't. That's why I stuck with all Panda Cories.

All my cories schooled together. I had spotted, panda, albino and julli. I still have 2 spotted and a albino who school together. I ordered 4 more albinos for late January.

they'll probably travel around in groups and then break off into pairs or singly.
were there any other juhliis in the tank with it?

No the juhlii was by itself.
Are there any particular signs I should look for in a distressed cory? I don't want to get him if he's been lonely and suicidal or anything, but he's so cool.

My elegant cory is by himself with 3 bronze corys in my 30. Sometimes he hangs with them, other times hes a loner. I would try to find some friends for him but I cant find anymore of his own species. Although he looks depressed at times, he can be the most active in the tank! I wouldnt worry about adding a single juhli to the mix...they really cant tell the difference anyways.

Well, it's not actually a julli... unless it's a melaninistic one.
This cory was almost totally black/dark brown with thin lines of tan. Almost like a giraffe, but with thinner lines.

I have 2 albinos, 1 green, (sorry, I'm no good with scientific names yet) 1 peppered, and 1 spotted and they all hang out together and pair off and go alone at times. They seem fine to me and are definitely growing. I figured as long as I had cories, they'd all get along and so far it's working. The green and peppered were the first two I got and they've been best buddies and still are. I want to get a couple of pandas next.
I had 10 aeneus and 1 paleatus... the paleatus 'kinda' hung out with the others. I bought 3 more paleatus; those 3 hang out together and the original paleatus still kinda hangs out with the aeneus...go figure....

Like the others, mine "kinda" school together. I have Spotted (3) and Sterbai (8) in a tank together and they pretty much hang out, but will seperate at times too. I doubt he's going to go suicidal though... lol Just keep an eye out and add a few more if you have the room and can find them.

OK, so does anyone have any idea of what type of cory (if it is indeed a cory) it would be.
The fish that I was looking at was about 2.5 - 3 inches. A very dark brown with very fine lines of tan. The fins were the same dark brown color. I didn't think to count barbels or anything.

Got pics? Cories are as hard (or harder) to identify as Plecos are. There are so may similar looking species.

No pics. I'm going back there next Friday. He'll probably be gone anyway. They have a pretty good turnover.
