whats up with this plant? fuzzy algae balls and light brown spots? what kind of algae?

Check out this site. It's hard to tell from your pictures. The descriptions lead me to think thread algae, but look at the site and let us know.

the closest thing that looks like it on that page is black beard algae. you think so?

to me it looks like BBA (Black beard algae) and the bottom looks to be BSA (brown spot algae)
the BSA can be wiped off but the BBA might me a little bit more hard....first id try removing it manually if that fails, theres other things to try but id reccomend a blackout. I had this really bad in my tank once but once i did a 4 day blackout it was all but gone. I read around and found the causes of it, but for the life of me cant seem to find the link, and i no longer have it....hope you followed all that!!!

the brown spots arent algae, it seems more like an iron deff. problem. i cant reduce nutes or lights to get rid of the algae, without increasing the damage possibly caused by a nutrient defficiency. i figure my best bet is to remove the affected leaves or the whole plant entirley?
