Can anybody help me identify this plant? I got is cause I like the way it looks. I got it yesterday and today, one leaf detached from the rest n was floating.

Do I re-plant that single branch/leaf? What other care is required for this plant? And yes... What is it called?:)

I want to say it's a Tiger Lotus?

Looks like a green tiger lotus to me. Just discard any leaves that detach. They will die once separated from the base/bulb. You may experience a die back of the plant, they are known to have dormant periods. I have a few red tiger lotus and once the went dormant I placed them in a smaller tank to rest and regenerate and they are starting to all releaf nicely now. Great looking plant for tanks!!

Are they supposed to have bulbs? The one I bought has a cotton wrapped at the base with lead anchors. Have I been sold just a collection of stems that will all die away? I have read about bannana plant somewhere and the leaves look quite similar. Is lotus and dwarf lily the same thing?

I have left the floating leaf in the tank for the moment as my angel pair seems very interested in cleaning it. Maybe they want to adopt it for laying eggs.

They are sometimes referred to as dwarf water lilies. There should be something at the base of the plant to sustain the plant. All water lilies and lotus plants grown from an enlarged rootstock or tuber which acts as a nutrient reserve. My suggestion would be to gently remove that cotton material at the base of the plant. It is not needed and will decompose on you. Hopefully you have some rootstock on those leaves.
