Hi
I've had 3 red shrimp (not sure what kind, was told cherry) for about 2 weeks and all is good
i purchased yesterday 1 golden apple snail, 2 zebra snails & 6 green shrimps and there were a few baby shrimp (smaller version of the adults) and today i noticed that there are these little bugs looking things, kinda like a flee (oval shaped)about 1-2 mm big, swimming around and somewhat deep in the gravel
i originally thought they were baby shrimp like prelarva but by looking up online they don't seem to have a prelarva stage so now i'm worried i got some unexpected addition to my purchase
does anyone have any idea what they could be, or if there bad (sorry no pic, they're too small)
thanks

they could be limpets...if they are they can come in on plants or snails...they are usually harmless

thanks for the info msjinkzd
can limpets swim around somewhat fast? cause these guys CAN swim
and how small can they be cause what i have been looking up on limpets are somewhat bigger than what i see in my tank about 1mm by 2 mm
but if there limpets there are no prob in having some in my tank?
thanks

they could also be copepods, which are also harmless...without a pic its difficult to guess.

another thing, its possible your green shrimp and your cherry shrimp could interbreed.

they may revert to more natural/wild coloration.

they may revert to more natural/wild coloration.

Meaning they would probably be see thru?

I always get a boom of the same 1-2 mm white things whenever more cherry shrimp hatch out. I have a feeling they are newly hatched shrimp, but I can't be certain.

hi i get them to.i found out that they come from the food i feed mine, then they hatch out in the tank. i feed diff things to my shrimp like the HBH toad pellets and the bites size things in there brand too.but they don't hurt anything.

What food do you feed? I feed exclusively Hikari Algae Wafers and they don't show up when I feed, only at hatching time.
