So I've decided to do a 10G plant tank...here's my set up (for now)

- 10G tank (duh)
- whisper filter (to keep water flow going; will probably add inverts and maybe a coupld fish later)
- heater
- substrate: Eco Complete (used the full 20lb bag)
- light: desk lamp w/ CF bulb (going to pick up this afternoon - gonna go with about 25-30W)
- driftwood
- will be dosing Excel (since I use that for my other tanks), so no CO2 set up

current plants waiting to be placed in:
- Ludwigia
- Java Fern
- Anubius
- Moneywort
- Water Sprite
- Marimo Ball
- Moss (Java, Flame, and maybe i'll add a bit of Christmas)
- and some bushy/leafy kinda plant...a bit tall growing, big wrinkly leaves, dark green on top, purple on the bottom...can't remember the name (will post pictures later)

Any other ideas?? Am i missing anything? I'll post pics once I get the stuff planted. Just thought I'd share and perhaps bounce a few ideas off of you plant experts

sounds like a lot of plant for a 10gal. i would leave out the marimo algae and the actual moss you were thinking of.
and your floating plants will be shipped out tomorrow. i ship on mondays but didn't want to ship last monday (xmas eve) and have the plants sit at the PO.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about the Marimo and the other moss...the marimo are in my other tanks, and I really like the way they look, so i tend to throw them into every tank...lol. I guess I'll kinda hold off on the other mosses too, until the other plants get a foothold.

Cool! sounds good. I can't wait to see the water lettuce =)

Sorry to say bud but that "Purple Waffle" plant you have in there is not a true aquatic. Its going to end up rotting away on you most likely.

BAH!! for realz?? I was a bit worried about that. It looked so cool that I thought I'd give it a try. So, it would do better as a potted plant? I feel bad just throwing it out.......

Good start, a background would make the filter not show.

Yeah. Just take it out and plant it in a pot and put in on a window still or something like that.

Looks good. Did you end up putting all that moss in there? In a 10g I'd be careful having multiple types of moss, it's suck if they got mixed together cause you'd never be able to distinguish them again.

I actually ended up not putting any moss in. I'm gonna let things get settled and I might add a little bit of moss later.

I picked up some dwarf baby pearl for the foreground (I was told they will grow more spread out like a mat rather than vertically) and a Anubius Nana Petite...gotta replace the purple waffle on that left side...lol
