well, ever since the mysterious crash of my tank I've been a little careful (maybe too cautious) over getting things back in order fmy tank. After losing several fish, most being my favorites of course, I removed all that was left to get the tank back in order. With the tank empty, I allowed it to settle while still doing water changes (aggressive ones) and adding a few flakes here and there. After 3 weeks and testing the parameters, I added back a few cories and a new Angel. Well, about 3 hours or so the Angel was attacked by what looked like ick though the cories looked fine. Soon after, I lost the angel. The cories still seemed ok so I left them in but watched them carefully. I gave it another week and added my 2 plecos (one common, one lemon) and still all seemed ok. I was afraid though to add any more angels at this point. Yet another week I added a few skunk botia's and still all seems ok. This past week I added my RTS and have been watching him. His lower fins got a split in them after a day and I was prepared to remove him but thought maybe it was due to the stress of change and decided to watch him and leave him be. Well now, he is doing great, reclaimed his cave and the tank is looking wonderful. I want to eventually get more Angels and perhaps some rams and we will be back on track. Just thought I'd update you all. :D

What was it that crashed, the pH? Why was that mysterious? What are you doing to prevent a recurrence? How did you introduce Ich --with new fish? I looked back through your posts, Dangerdoll, but I couldn't pick up the thread. Give us a link?

Thanks BFD, I must say I am soooo happy things have finally gotten back to normal. Reluctantly, I've just added 3 Angels this past Friday and they are doing absolutely wonderful, I'm loving it. So I've got the 3 angels, the RTS, the pleco, a few cories, and few botias and finally feel like I'm back in business.

Not the pH wetman, the pH never changed, neither did the other parameters....it all just seemed to go to pot and I had no explanaton, imagine my frustration. I'm not sure how the new Angel came up with ich in a few hours, and succumbed because the cories weren't affected with it at all. When that Angel died, I did another water change, added some melafix and kept my fingers crossed while watching the cories. (I've been pretty religious about the water changes since, 30% weekly) That's when I waited a week and added the plecos etc. I had 2 links of the whole kit and kaboodle.....for the full story:

Now I remember. You were wise to let the tank run fishfree for several weeks like this.
Good luck on this new start...
