Are these snail eggs? I have no idea. The tank has about 12 Maylasian Trumpet Snail (~1/2 long) and two other round snails (about 1 1/4" in diameter). Mold? Aliens? If eggs: What? When? How? Suggestions?

They're your apple snail's eggs. MTS livebear their offspring. I don't know much about getting them to hatch, besides keeping them very moist. After that, the works done; feed & watch.

if you dont want any more apple snails, then simply just remove the eggs and throw them away. the snails will lay more eggs though, so unless you want lots of apple snails, keep a lookout for more egg pods.

each clutch of eggs can produce 50-200 babys snails. they take from 2-4 weeks to hatch. Most people do not have enough tank space to house all the baby snails so opt to either break a piece of the clutch off to hatch or to freeze the entire clutch. There is a sticky at the top of freshwater inverts on how to hatch them. www.applesnail.net (http://www.applesnail.net) also has a bunch of DIY hatchery ideas.
A female apple snail can lay a clutch every 4-7 days so if you decide to get rid of this one, there will probably be more.
If you decide to hatch them, the babies do best in a tank with an established source of algae/microorganisms on plants but don't need special food. They will grow quickly, but often a large die-off is experienced around 1 month of age. When they reach pea-sized they are shippable/saleable(with a permit if you are selling across state lines). When they reach dime sized they are most likely sexually mature and can start producing clutches. Good luck! hope this helps.

Wow. Looks like I could become over run with apple snails. Not interested in being an apple snail breeder. I sure am glad I put these in the tank with the tightest lid.

Thanks for the info.

please freeze the egg clutch overnight before tossing. it is possible that it will retain enough moisture to hatch in a week or so, on its way to the landfill, and that is cruel for the baby snails as they will dry out and die. it is also possible that it could end up in local waterways and cause an infestation. just put the clutch in the freezer for 24 hours and then you can toss in the trash.
