We are at the point of stocking our 72 gallon bowfront tank - here's our list so far:

3 skunk corys
5 odessa barbs
10 serpar tetras
6 platinum angelfish

Anything else anyone would suggest?

We'll also be stocking a 36 gallon corner tank in a few weeks, so are open to suggestions there too.

serpae tetras tend to be nippy and may go after the angel's fins. you may want to take them back to the LFS for some lemon, diamons, red eye, or rummynose tetras.

watch for pairing off between the angels. once a breeding pair forms, you'll have to remove them from the tank.

add 3 more corydoras to help round out the school

Thanks for this info. The darn LFS sold us the serpae to go with the angels! Guess they'll be moving to the new 36 gallon tank once it arrives and is cycled! What would they match up well with in there?

For the 72g, you could have the 6 angels, 6-8 cories, and 6 odessa barbs, and possibly a bit more. In the 36, as long as it doesn't have long fins, there are a few options availible. You could go with something like black skirt tetras for another nippy tetra and some contrast, or some cories or loaches, shrimp, etc. You can always look at fish you like and ask about them here :)

I love the look of clown loaches - would those work in the 36g with the serpae tetras and maybe some of the black skirted tetras (I like those too)?

You'll have to upgrade to a bigger tank soon which is why I chose to suggest other loaches mentioned above.:)

AH - I would like to stock with fish that won't need a bigger home - we've hit the max in terms of tank space in our house between the 36g and the 72g. So, I need to find some algae eaters/bottom dwellers for the 36g that will be happy in that size tank for good.
