Old tank, new filter. New tank old filter?

I picked up a nifty bit of kit for $100 bucks from Craigslist and am getting it setup and have a few questions. It's a 39/40 gal tank. big stand, nice Coralife 65W light and it came with a Whisper dual chamber HOB sized for a 60 gal, I think? The gravel and filter were delivered wet and the tank had been setup and running but there had been no fish in the tank for a month before they drained it and delivered it.

I cleaned the tank, stripped and repainted the back. While I was doing the prep, I the rinsed the gravel, sifted the sand out that was in it and tossed it in a clean fish tub with the filter and ran it over night.

I purchased some under gravel plates and a new powerhead and installed my first reverse UGF. I set the tank up, transferred in the gravel and rocks that came with it, moved the filter and filled it up using my normal declor/conditioner. I let it run for a day and came up with zero's across the board so tossed in a half dozen sacrificial guppies (that are doing fine after 4 days)

Now, what I'm planning to do is move a fairly dirty Aqua Clear 70 off my 46 gallon tall corner tank to the new 40. My unplanted 46 gal tank is very heavily stocked but very healthy. It's been running about 4 years. I'm replacing the AC 70 with an AC 110 (this tank also has a Fluval 404, UGF and powerhead)

I'm not really too concerned about the 46 gal freaking out much by hanging a virgin AC 110 on it and taking off bio-loaded AC 70 off, but I'm wondering how to keep the 70 that's going on the new 40 gal properly fed with nutrients to keep it alive? It's used to handling a heavy load and I'm worried that with only 6 puny guppies, the filter will starve. In the 40, with what ever biology remained in the filter and gravel from the previous owner and the addition of the AC70, could I consider the new tank to be reasonably cycled and toss in "good" fish or just toss in a dozen more fancy guppies and keep watching my water numbers?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Oh, here's the new gear. Just tossed in everything that came with it. Haven't made it my own, yet.

Yeah, I know. Check my water numbers. I'll go do that now

Thanks for your advice. Been lurking a long time but never posted until now. Maybe I'll put up some pics of my 46, 20, 10 and 2 gallon tanks to go with my new 40 even though I'm beginning to think I have a problem? :) I have no idea yet what I'm going to do with this new tank or what is going to live in it. It's too small for my pleco and I'm kind of thinking I'd like to get into cichlids, but that would be a whole new learning curve? (I've got 20+ Corys (6 varieties), half dozen platys, a 14" common pleco and a 10 gallon tank full of guppies)
