I've been out of town for a couple weeks and have left my 10g reef in the care of a friend who did a great job. I had an algae explosion right before I left but thanks to advice on here, addition of a CUC and a ton of water changes, everythign seems to be fine.
Tonight I was sitting in front of the tank when I noticed there are several small, translucent green egg-looking things scattered on my live rock. I have one single juvenille clownfish, 2 small hermit crabs and I did have several snails in there before the algae problem. I also have several mushrooms, rics, zoas and a buttom polyp, but I don't think it's from them.
Sorry I can't get a picture of it- too small for my camera to focus on them. I would say they're about 1/8th the size of a pencil eraser, for lack of a good size comparison. Some are single, and there is a cluster of about 15 of them on the tallest point on my rock.
Any thoughts? Should I be worried?

Yeah I think Niko, CPD and Grins. Like CPD said don't pop them when trying to remove them or you'll release the spores.

OT but I love that photo Clown.
//OT - Thanks.. Its a pick of Lenny.. I entered it in the photo comp, but I couldn't get a quality shot the day she was playing like this.. But this was the "BEST" one.. She's like.. Who's peaking into my tank.. oooooo

Ok, I think you guys are right. I read that article- I guess I need to try to remove it without rupturing the bubbles? Not sure how that is going to go....

I already only have my lights on for 3 hours per day due to dealing with previous algae bloom.....

I am also starting to suspect that the RO water I have been buying from my LFS is less than high quality, and have been debating purchasing my own RO/DI unit to improve water quality and just be more handy than making a million trips to the LFS. Is this a good idea?

Can I get one for around $100? Money is definitely an issue, but it seems like this would pay for itself since I constantly am battling water quality issues. My tank is only 10 gallons, and I am planning on upgrading to a 24g cube soon, and that's as big as I'm going to go, so I don't need one that does a bajillion gallons a day. Can anyone make some recommendations? Or is there a way to DIY?

Thanks again for everyone's help!

YEs, you won't believe how many LFS around here carry unreliable RO water... I think one of them around here has not changed the filter for years and years... Of course he would never admit it. Get a test kit and test the water you buy from different LFS.. look for phosphate and nitrate especially.

OF course if you're willing to spend money on Ro/DI unit, that's the best way to go. It saves the hassle of going to store with buckets, but it is extra work to mix your own salt and things like that. AT the end of the day, I think pros outweigh the cons by miles and I would recommend getting the unit. I would look to spending little bit more than $100... I got mine from Kent Marine for $220.. but I've read posts where people recommended really good units off ebay for about $150. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

Hope that helps.
