But i hate koi and goldies.

I want oscars, a huge catfish or a arowana!:headbang2::headbang2::headbang2:

But can i heat it up without a huge watt eating machine?

No i don't know how many liters or gallons it ill be but im guess about 500 liters to 1000.

But im not sure.

Stick to local native fish species, then you need not heat it as long as it's deep enough to not freeze solid (if it were ever to freeze). Add a nice pump, trickle filter box above some sort of waterfall... endless possibilities. Just be sure to leave some shallow slopes in case a bird falls in, so it can get out again. Also - if you have lots of birds, you may well not be able to keep fish because of the waste issue. You could grow lots of interesting plants, though.

There are other native fish like sunfish, bass, catfish, rosy reds, white cloud mountain minnow, orphe and many more. I'm not sure if some of theme could fit in your pond though. I wouldn't put a heater/make it a tropical pond unless your always above 60 degrees, or you are pepared to bring them in for the winter.

It will never never freeze, in winter it barley ever goes below 15c with is about 60f.

Well i have to say there are some impressive fish here, i could name them for you but i would guess none of you would recognize them.

So if i can't heat up that pond i will go with native fish.

Sorry, those fish weren't native to many other places. They could still be used in other places, since they can handle the cold.

problem is that bird poo can cause water problems as well as parasite problems. Something to think about and ask more questions on

a good sized fish like an arowana could tri and get a bird like a finch. depends on where u live with native fish. baby turtles are cool. but with any animals in a pond you wold have to keep the poo out
