I always print off petsmart online prices before i go buy something there. I picked up two Marineland H.O.T Magnum 250s today. Online price 47.99 and in store price 89.99! Of course they pirce matched the website.

I went to a brand new LFS that just opened and almost had a heart attack when I saw that Rena XP2 (yes, XP2) for $220 and a Hydor power jet for $55 thats $15 elsewhere. I want to support the independent shops but at those prices, there is no way. Their fish prices on the other hand are pretty reasonable depending on what you are looking for..

5% of select 20 gallon tanks,stands,starter kits,filters,heaters
10% 29 gallon tanks,stands,starter kits,filters,heaters
15% 50 gallon and 55 gallon tanks,stands,starter kits,filters,heaters
But I got a 29 gallon with hood that was 74.99 to 63.99. Plus my associates discount of another 15%, and the total was $60 something due to taxes. Just got to wait for my eco-complete substrate to come in the mail :).
LFS, usually sell higher priced items due to being supported by separate businesses and having items not locally available in Petsmarts or Petcos. Than they just jack up the price, wonder why they don't sell low or understandable ranges and build up from there.

Yes, it helps to do your research on the net before-hand when you buy from Petsmart =], I ALWAYS print out an internet ad whenever I need to go there.

They use to honor all websites prices. You'll also notice the petsmart.com prices have been up'd a little lately.

they refuse to honor the online prices by me. they tell me that the higher price is for convenience of no shipping. load of crap, i know.

My local PetSmart honors the prices. I know some say that shipping is the difference, but on bigger items like cannister filters, you're over $50 for free shipping anyway.

they didnt mean the price of shipping rather the time you wait for it to arrive. either way, it is a new store and new yorkers are a bit rough when it comes to business.

You just print out the petsmart.com page showing the item and price. There's not like a special page or form you need.
I'd like to know what the official policy is. Petsmart's aren't franchises, each one is owned by corporate so it doesn't make sense to have a different policy from store to store. I don't shop at petsmart generally. Therefore, it's not really worth it to me, but someone should contact petsmart corporate regarding the official corporate policy. Then, you can have backup if the local store gives you grief.

The way I do it is if I am buying more than 1 thing is I add it to the shopping cart on the site and then print that page off...that way I have a list of everything I went after and they can go down the list and mark them off as they pricematch them ;)

according to the manager I talked to at my petsmart, it is company wide policy to match online prices.... no store is exempt. If you really want to be a pain about, complain to the corporate office.

Here is a link to Petsmart help desk. There is an email and a phone number.

Petco will match Petsmart in-store price but not the Petsmart online price. The store near me said this.

2 things:
1) This is awesome where applicable. This is where the variation from store to store can really work in your favor.
2) Again, I don't shop at petsmart(not like I'm opposed to it, just that there isn't one close to me and including shipping, foster and smith are chearp on big orders), but, if it is a corporate policy, you should contact corporate. This applies to any store. Corporate HQ, heck, even the store mananger in some cases, will never know of an employee's behavior/misaccordance with corporate policies unless someone tells them. Generally speaking, corporations don't set their goals to include "Give the worst possible customer service). The corporation wants to provide good service. They rely heavily on customer feedback.
The corporation will speak to the store manager. He will change that stores policy or he will be let go.

Petsmart will honor the online prices and match that. Bring in a printed copy of the product and talk to the Pet Care Manager or the Store Manager.

the only online price petsmart is required by corporate to honor is our own. after that any discounts is at the discretion of the mod. also the in store prices are more expensive due to the addition of shipping cost to online purchases (do you really want to pay store price + shipping? i think not).

Pestmart ships orders of $50 or more for free... so if your items are 50,, there is no shipping to add, and besides shipping is like $5 on the stealth heaters, which are $14 cheaper each (for the 250 watt) online... so you would still save $9 on one... I did order mine online, got 3 heaters, and some biomax... saved about $70... And didn't go to the store.

I brought in a printout of a BigAlsOnline sale price for 500mL Prime ($4.99?) vs. the Petsmart sale price of $9.99 once.
Today, I just bought a few things from BigAlsOnline. I could have gone to PS, but they don't have Excel. I could have saved a couple of bucks on heaters by getting Stealths on sale at Foster & Smith, but they didn't have the 20W ColorMax (upgrade for my minibow) or the 500mL size of Excel... So, I got it all at BigAlsOnline (thus avoiding an extra shipping charge). Even having to pay for shipping, I probably saved $30 and visits to 2-3 LFS in addition to PS just to get 2 heaters, a magfloat, a colormax 20W light, 500mL of Excel and a sponge filter. (Now I can't wait for my box to arrive).

Me either, I just ordered the heaters, and an RO, and some other stuff... UPS takes forever sometimes.
