View Full Version : Pistol Shrimp Woes
I just got a tiger pistol at the cruel price of 27$. I sought out a tiger pidtol because of my yellow watchman. A few hours after I add the bugger, I find her burrow, which is on the complete other side of the tank from the goby:sad: How can I get them to work? Also, I'd like to figure out how to get my coral beauty eating mysis.

They should find each other eventually. Its usually best to introduce them into the tank at the same time, but they might become a team after a few days or weeks.
I would try to get your Coral Beauty to eat Mysis by soaking it in Entice. That may interest the Coral Beauty more.

These are the same as clown fish and anemone's...There is no guarantee that a pistol will pair up with a goby. The pistol shrimp is quite blind, hence the symbiotic relationship it has with the goby..Out of the two, all you can do is hope the goby find the pistol, and see what happends..

Would it be possible to move the shrimp? The Goby is in a great place where he's easy to feed, and the shrimp is in a wierd corner of the rock work.

LOL...it sounds an easy task, however, if he's starting digging already, you may have a problem with that.....he he he.....seriously, if you can catch it, yes, i would certainly attempt to move it..

Like something to scoop with. Wouldn't a shrimp snap if it felt threatened? I don't like the idea of one of the fastest motions an animal can make happening in my hand. I don't think I could reach down there without a stool either.

make a soda bottle trap and trap the pistol.. then turn the bottle upright and use it as a container in the tank... catch your goby and toss him in the bottle too. give them a week with feedings inside the bottle.. then release them together on the side of the tank.

Wow, but how do you trap the pistol. I tried to catch her and a I found a molt. I know that shrimps molt when they are acclimated, but she already molted in the bag. How many times can a shrimp molt in two days? Anywho, she was a lot faster than I imagined and she disapeared into the rock work, the bugger!
