Flourite is an excellent substrate due to its stability and its high CEC, but the only nutrient it come with which is accessible is iron. You, your tap, or your fish must provide the rest.

"Potash" is an old term for a potassium salt.

I use several of Seachem's line, including Flourish. I'm quite happy with the line. But what specific supplements you need will depend on the setup (light, CO2, plants, and fish).

Go to Tom Barr's notes at:

for the detail.

I think for the small tank, the SeaChem line will suit your needs well.

Excel can be added for Carbon.
Flourish for traces.
Flourish nitrogen for N
Flourish phosphorus for PO4

That's about it and they instructions on the bottle.
Small tank, they should last a while.

If you email Seachem and provide your mailing address they will send you a chart that details their program with the recommended dosages and frequency already calculated.
They are a very consumer friendly organization!

I have been using the Flourish line on a 90g with results that really surpassed my expectations. I was told that to use it on such a large tank would be too costly but I don't feel that way- it is easy and that counts for a lot. My plants have all been growing by leaps and bounds, and I can't find the smallest smattering of algae. All of the algae that pre-existed has disappeared- and there were at least three types in there.

I really can't say enough about how happy I am with Flourish. Buy in bulk at Big Al's and sit back and enjoy the best looking tank you ever had.
