:help:Here i am Torn between two ideas, :help:

120 gal FOWLR tank. . I do not have a sump or Nice lighting system. I have a 70$ gift card to my lfs . Heres my Ideas

1. Buy a 12gal aquapod so that I can get coral and all of that pretty stuff since it would only cost 160$+ or -
2. Work on Making a Sump, Overflow Boxes, Canopy, Lighting, this is the more exspensive of the Two.

I am just torn I would love too see the big tank with coral and all but Seriously this would cost too much. Anyone out there Have a 12gal pod? Help me, What would you do!

if i had the money and space, i would definitely go with the larger tank. you could always buy it piece by piece so the expense is spread out over a few months.

I wish it was that easy. I am looking at building everything myself. Even the Overflow boxes. I need to get a router and then Price the Acrylic

i would like to do this to Atleast get a canopy on my tank and the HOB skimmer of the back

Are you going DIY to save money or simply because you want to? You can get overflow boxes pretty cheap on ebay, and if you're looking at having to buy powertools to build one, buying them would be far cheaper. I tried and gave up on my overflow and just bought them.

I have the LR , the tank as been up and running for 7months. My Stocking is fine right now. Water has been stable since i got the tank. Must be doing somthing right.

Im doing it for two reasons to build my own would be Pretty neat. and The Price would be cheaper Minus the router. (but i like tools)

BIGGER IS BETTER!!! 12G would be nice but not as nice as a huge reef tank.

i'd go big.

Set up sump first.. worry about lights later.

Sump you can set up a rubber maid, or something like a 55g and just install baffles. Skimmer you can buy used if you like (a skimmer is a skimmer.. if it works it works, they are far cheaper used and work fine)

Overflows are pretty cheap, or you can make one out of pvc pipe actually. I dont have the link, but im sure someone here does. Someone on reef central mastered making an overflow out of nothing but pvc pipe total cost was like 10 bucks and it didnt include any welding acrylic or any of that crap. (its kinda ugly, but you can hide it behind LR)

just my opinion...
