non-Co2 plant help

I would like to have a few plants in my tank along with my fish but not many just a couple. I don't want a co2 just low light growing plants that will grow without any specific additions to my tank. I like bamboo but someone told me that the leaves must be above water but all the ones i find in shops are submerged and are to short to have the leaves above water.
Any suggestions on what i should look for?
 
you could look into something like broadleaf ludwigia, pennywort, those will do fairly well in a simple lowlight setup. there are plenty of different plants that are good for lowlight, just do a search :)
 
A friend gave me some bamboo three months ago and one of the two plants is still alive although probably not for much longer. It does die eventually if left completely submerged as is mine. I don't think it matters if the leaves are above the surface. The stem becomes waterlogged over time and the plant rots from the inside.
If you want a non rooted plant that will do well you could go with java fern.
