55 Gallon Tank with:
Coral Beauty
Percula Clown
Yellow Watchman Goby
Blue Damsel
Royal Gramma
and some snails
and shrimp in the future
Could I get another fish? What could I put in there?...
I'd like a fish that will swim around a lot since the coral beauty and the poopface damsel are the only ones that use the space!
Also, if I have to get rid of the damsel I would be willing, he's our first sw fish and I'm not a fan of him.
Thanks!
Also, tank has been up and running since june, all the fish were in a 30 gallon before but I just moved them all to a new 55 I just bought.

I have nothing to add other than I love "poopface damsel"

he really is a poopface though! He was the first saltwater fish we got, he is my boyfriends "signature" fish and he named it bluedust, all very laaame! Now we are stuck with the stinky blue damsel. He is pretty but he really likes to raise hell. The coral beauty keeps everyone under control though, she is the "mommy" of the tank.

Can anyone give me any suggestions?

o I just noticed you are from pittsburgh. i'm about 20 miles west for grad school.
I think with the aggressive damsel you are somewhat limited. Potentially a small wrasse (although they are active little guys so a 55 gallon might be somewhat limiting), some chromis. If you would consider upgrading your tank in the future, you could maybe consider a yellow tang.

I think a Yellow tang could be added. they are perfectly fine with defending hemselves.

I have been thinking about a yellow tang, we are going to get a bigger tank in the future, probably 2-3 years from now.
My other option would be to get a valentini puffer, I already have a GSP in another tank and I have been bit by the puffer bug.
My boyfriend wants a lyre tail anthias, I don't know much about them so if any of you all have experience please share!
So thats our three options for right now
And yeah, Pittsburgh is neat, I moved here about a year ago. I go to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

I had 3 anthias over the last 3 years. 2 within the last month. One was stressed from being bagged shipping, jumped out of the tank during maintenance, got popeye and died. the 2nd had something that it brought into my main tank after I didn't qt and it wiped out my entire tank of livestock minus a wrasse. The first one I had was a lyretail that never ate in my tank but was eating at the LFS. As beautiful as they are, I'm not going to attempt another one anytime in the next 5+ years. Some people have luck with them (can't think of who has them on the forum offhand), but I think many more don't have luck with them.

I'd not get an anthias in the 55g and I'd wait on the yellow tang until you do get the bigger tank. Before you decide on what to add though you should probably first decide if the damsel is staying or going. What inverts do you have in the tank? Both sessile and motile?

I don't have any inverts yet. I think I might get a valentini puffer. They are so cute and I do love puffers. I need more than just a GSP! :-)
Now I just have to convince my boyfriend we need more puffs!

I'd not suggest a yellow tang in a 55...just my opinion of course

I'd suggest a Midas Blenny. They swim out in mid water column most of the time and like to ride the current of power heads. When they sleep or hide, it's usually in a hole in the rock. Very personable and friendly fish.

Thats the fish that I wanted!! I saw them at the LFS but sometimes its hard to figure out the names of fish in the tanks. I think they are *beautiful*!!
Now I must think again of what I want to get!
