Me again, I seem to have an endless supply of questions..

This is what I plan to do for my QT tank. Today I bought an aquaclear20 power filter. I was going to simply hang it on the back of my show tank and let it run for (a week or two?). Then take the filter directly off the show tank and place it on a 10gallon tank, fill the 10gallon with water from my display and add a few pvc pipes for the QT inhabitants. Once my critters pass QT break the tank down, sterilize the power filter and trash the powerfilter media. If say in 3-6 months time I want to add a new addition I go through the above steps. However I was thinking maybe I just need to put the aquaclear20 bio filter cartridge in my sump, then just transfer that to my QT when needed? That would be easier if it's just as good a solution. Thanks all!

ok, well I decided to simply put the filter pack in one of the baffles in my sump:

I am unsure how long it will take for it be good enough to sustain my QT tank? I was planning in 2 weeks to put this pack into the aquaclear20 on my QT tank, use my display tank water and be good to go. I have no carbon in my main tank and figured it wouldn't hurt to just run the small bit of carbon in the filter pack..

The Advice to Newbies link in my signature has a post about QT tank set ups.

All you need for a QT is a heater, a size of tang that can hold your incoming fish, some PVC pipe and cycled media / Filter...Keep on top of water quality...nice and easy...
