My friend has taken my 4 guppiesI had in my 12 gallon eclipse tank and I am taking it apart and doing a VERY thorough cleaning job. Went to the only local fish store that carries marine life and did some pricing. It was cool to see a lot of the fish I have been considering and thinking about about in person. Clowns are so much smaller than I thought they were, about the size of a quarter. I ordered the book everyone here recommended to me "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist". I did learn one thing at the fish store. I will NOT be buying live rock there!!!! The cheapest (and not the greatest looking) live rock started at $8.00 a pound. So I will be buying my live rock form foster and smith, the nano package for $69.99. I live in VT and everything here is really expensive. Everything at the store was about 25% more than ordering through catalog/online and that includes shipping and handling. Oh well. I can get basic things like food and salt mix, etc at petsmart which is reasonably priced. Figured I will order the rock towards the end of this month and my plan is to hopefully has some inhabitants by mid march. But I am going to take my time and do it right. If the tank isn't ready yet, I will wait. I can't wait though to have everything up and going.

Its really nice to see that your not in a rush to get the system up and running. When we rush things, that is when mistakes happen and it all goes pete tong...

Keep us up to date with how your moving forward with this, maybe start thinking about creating your blogg for it, or a reef log in Reef Keepers..

Whew! That's steep. Check out overstock.com - I've found a lot of good deals for marine books there, including The Conscientious Marine Aquarist.

If you scroll down its like 26.95. I don't know where they got those prices, must be the gold editions (as in made out of gold)? If those sellers are actually charging that price then I'm putting mine up for $100 and going to barnes and noble and buying another copy for $30 :grinyes:!!
