need help in finding a glass top for my aquarium

I want to add a glass top to my tank, but am so confused. do I order 2 individula glass tops for my 55 gallon tank or do I just get 1 long one? and if so which one's do I get to fit my tanks ? ( size and brand) ??
Here is a pic of my tank. ( its got a backing on it now and better looking ) but notice the crappy yellow lighting.) Please if you can help this would be awsome!!

I wanted to also add I am taking the lights that are on it now and adding new bright bulbs I ordered off doctor fosters. I also have 2 more same size stip lights I will be putting on the top as well. thats why I need the glass top.
 
weird, doctor foster does not carry that size? they only have 48X18
I love doc fosters and ordered my lights from them today. I will just order that ling :)
 
you have one of 2 choices
1- get glass that stretches fully across the tank (comes in 2 pieces. back and front) Link i gave you

2- get 2 glass canopies that will rest on the center brace (so thats 4 pieces of glass in all) Drfoster has them look at the 24" LINK

Your tank size is 48x13 and the link i gave you is 48x13. That takes into account the glass + hinge + back strip which you can cut to fit filter/heater/tubing and wiring.
 
Find a local glass/window shop. You can probably get some glass cut, any size you need for less than 10 dollars.

thank you, I went and ordered the top you gave me the link to. I appreciate your help. and If I sund ditzy I am sorry, it takes a bit to explain to me. I am old :lol: but I appreciate all your help very much :) good night.

No problem.

Buying glass from a glass shop is cheaper but then you will need the hinge/handle/backstrip.. So unless your current canopy broke and you just need the glass then go the glass shop route, save a few bucks
