I had two shrimp in my tank, one was a ghost, and I'm not sure what the other one is: maybe someone could ID for me, please- she is a little over an inch long. They got along great, although she didn't always seem so enthusiastic when the male wanted to get frisky- but because of the very relevent size difference, she usually got her way. sadly, the male ghost passed away about a month ago..since then, the female has not produced any more eggs, which she used to do alot of. Is this because there is no male shrimp present? I think she may be lonely now, I'm planning on getting her some new friends soon after I upsize the tank- does it matter what kind?

Oh...one more question (bit less relevent now that she hasn't been producing eggs...but just out of curiosity and future knowledge), after the female layed her eggs, she would sometimes get this really bright yellow patch behind her head...what/why is this? (shown in last picture)

that would be the saddle, the female gets it when mature, its the overies so she looks like shes ready to mate again. good luck

i looked up the 'saddle' ovarie location, and this is actually directly behind the part that turned yellow.
this happens right after she lays her eggs and stays for less than a day, then it returns to a dark brown color.
