16 cm total length (that's with the tail). So, what is it, 2.4 cm per inch? Probably around 9". Awesome show fish.

so, that would make it too large for my 75g tank, right?

Eh. They're not too active, and 9" certainely is within the limits. I'd go for it. Just make sure that your skimmer is good and keep an eye on your nitrates as he gets larger.

Understand a marine betta eats shrimp and small fish.

What other fish do you have or plan to have in the 75?

i have a royal gramma in QT now. i plan on getting 3? lemon gobies next. perhaps a firefish, a yellow-headed jawfish, and a percula clownfish. i would really like to have a hippo tang, but several people have dissuaded that choice. would like some rounder, colorful fish to add last.
any suggestions would be appreciated,
thanks

A 75 is big enough in my opinion for a yellow tang or an Atlantic Blue Tang ( Acanthurus coeruleus).
