NOT anytime soon, but SOMEDAY, under 4x 65w PC lighting? What if I place it up high in the tank, won't it burrow into the rock and stay there? Would that be okay? Just browsing LiveAquaria.com and wondering.... :) They're Sooooooooooooooooo pretty. :hearts:

in my honest opinion; no. you are goign to need more light... i can almost garentee that there will be someone who will come on here stating it is perfectly fine and they (or their friend) has had one under there for a year and it is doing amazing and it is the perfect amount of light, you just need to feed, blah blah blah... I'm not saying it hasnt been done, just that it rarely happens. Also, the clams under pcs never looks as nice. :P

Agree with Fishie, you want MHs or T5s with individual reflectors to keep most of the giant clams available.

can I have a clam in 70w MH over a 12g?

That light would be adequate, of course you'll want to make sure the tank is pristine otherwise and stable as well and I'd stick with the smaller species like Crocea.

It it very difficult to keep parameters steady in a tank that small & clams don't fair well with that much daily change in parameters. I'm talking about top off at least 2x/day.

i havent added an auto top off to this tank yet, but will be before adding any livestock.. how about heat? my tank swings 2-3 degrees by the end of the light cycle.
