Hello-

Currently I have a small Foxface Lo, Algae Blenny, Bangai (sp?) Cardinal and Pixie Hawk.
The Pixie is VERY agressive- when I added a Royal Gramma he attacked it immediately, biting part of his tail off. I was able to catch the Royal and separate him till he mended, but when I put him in the general population again the Pixie still went at him and eventually killed him.
The only fish I have gotten since was the Foxface, whom he didn't bother- prob. because the fox is bigger.
Has anyone had a similar problem? What other kind of fish could handle bullies? Maybe my only answer is to isolate the pixie?

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks for your time-

Jano

My understanding is that they get like that when crowded or established in the tank before more passive fish (such as the RG). I am suprised it hasn't had run ins with the blenny as well.

Which order did you put the fish in? Maybe put the Pixy in a QT for a week or so and then put him back. That way it may seem that he is the last in.

Pixy's are recorded as being known to pick relentlessly on small dottybacks, grammas, pygmy angels, small butterflyfishes, sand perches, gobies and dartfishes. (Taken from PocketExpert guide Marine Fishes)

Like catpicklesdog said the only thing you can really do is remove the pixie from the tank completely, the longer the better. Also whilst he's out rearrange the rockwork as much as you can. Might work, might not Hawks can be real mean little so-and-so's sometimes but they do have great personalities when they get on with the other fish.
