Ok, so my eventual goal is a reef tank. I have been looking at different fish and these are the ones I am most interested in. There are many I REALLY liked but I went by what most sites put as good beginners fish. Now I realize I will not be able to house all of these in my tank, but I am looking for opinions on any that would NOT work, or would NOT go well together. Oh and it is a 55g.

Green/Blue chromis-I did read they need to be in a school of at least 6, now can I mix them 3 & 3 or would I need to pick one or the other with these, cause I do not think I can have 2 "sets" of them.

Clowns-Pair, not sure which species and I read that I can't mix them...is this true?

Banggai Cardinal

Royal Gramma

Lawn mower Blenny

Clown Goby

Yellow watchman Goby

Purple fire fish

Yellow headed jaw fish

Blue Tang

Thank you in advance for any and all comments and suggestions.

Buy the blue tang only if you have a tank larger than 75g. 125g is best. The royal gramma may be a little aggressive attempting to defend its territory from gobies and blennies.

I love the Banggai cardinals.:hearts: Try them, Lady G. I tried two species of clownfish before with no problems, Amphiprion ocellaris and pink skunk clowns but I don't think this may work for others.

Thank you, Lup!!! Yeah, I figured the blue tang wouldn't work. But they are sooo pretty, I through them in just in case...the site I was looking at said 50g, usually most sites seem to be off a bit on tank size it seems.

Ok, so the Tang is off the list, and the gramma is questionable at this point.:)

I agree, except for the tang everything else is very doable in a 55g. The jawfish will need the right substrate for it's burrows but they are cool little fish.

As said above, the tang is off, i never recomend these in anything less than 100 galls..dont see any issues with the gramma either..all will be fine...

YAY ME!!!!!!!!!! I will be getting more LR, and working on my clean-up crew here really soon...then work on getting the fish, but I wanted to know if what I was looking at would work first so I can start more research on them and their specific needs.

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!
