im looking into to getting a baby oscar for my 30G.heres what i would like to put in there

some type of cory x4
shrimps
MTS snails
BRIGGS x4
zebra danios x2
guppies
African dwarf frog x2
a gourami

i know some of these might not fair well like the shrimp and guppies but will the others work?if so is there any other fish i could add.i plan on getting a bigger tank when the baby oscar gets bigger so no worries.i have heard the personalities are great with these little guys so really want to give it a chance

P.S. on a side note i was reading about a oscar (a rather big one)who was happily swimming around when a cat tried fishing for it and he bit the paw and dragged the cat in with him lol

They grow fast if properly cared for. So the 30 would last just long enough for you to get the 75 up and going.

Agree. 30g is way too small. Not to mention the Oscar would eat/kill everything on your list.

+1 for not bothering with the smaller tank. Oscars grow fast when they're small, that tank might last 3 months, and most of those fish would last much less time than that.

Its amazing how fast those cute little Oscars grow. I may be exagerating but i swear they double in size every week, specially if there eating good. You must also match there size and agression level or they will kill everything. Not to mention eating every fish that fits in its mouth while tearing plants up and trashing decorations. They are a great and interesting fish for a larger tank 75 or larger with tankmates.

I got a 2" Oscar on Nov 24th....it is now 4 1/2"....

I did too--well, more like beginning of November. That sucker is 6 inches now. Had to put a wood board across the lid so he wouldn't headbang his way out!!!! Oh yeah, personality!!!!!! I'm convinced he has a tapeworm.
