Ok, i need to build a tank stand for my 55g and i was thinking of making it a double stand to save on floor space. My question is how do you service the bottom tank, i.e. (pouring water into from a bucket, service filter)? I currently have a 15 gal but i may get rid of another tank to get a 33L which has the same footprint as a 55G. Thanks in advance Zach

I use a transmission funnel to pour water in to my 29 on my bottom rack I use a 6 gallon water jug from Walmart for my 40B bottom tank. I use a plan Jane Walmart gravel vac to clean the tanks. I have 7" of clearance above my 40 and 6 above the 29 on my seal rack with my shop lights attached to the shelf above.

bottom tanks are hard to deal with as they sit below your eye level so cleaning is harder etc.
I would not do a show tank on the second level for that reason but qt, grow out, or bare bottom tank would be fine.

The hose and funnel ideas had already come to mind. I had the crazy idea of making the bottom tank stick out halfway or finding a sturdy way to make it slide out to me. But after thinking about "sliding" water i also thought about spilling, sloshing water!!!. Well i may need to think of other options. Maybe a corner unit.
