i was looking at my fish tank yesterday as I got home (as I often do) and my Pleco that I just got on Monday was doing his usual eating of algae....move...eat some more...move..eat some more...and so on.....and the I notice he had a string of poop that was about 3-4 inches in length....it stayed attached for a long time...and then finally broke off at about the 4 inch length....

....Is this normal? I give him 2 algae tablets before I turn the lights out.....

Very normal. These guys are poop factories!
When I had my common, I could go to bed at night and have a nice clean tank. The next morning it looked like he had played with a dozen cans of silly string...

Yea, these guys are very messy. Just make sure to do your cleanings and everything will be fine. It's funny, whenever someone new comes over, they point and are like, "whats that thing on the tank?", it's pretty funny.

I have a big 10 inch crap factory. I vacuum the gravel in that tank every other day.

ROLLIN, I guess crap is being made at mass production in your tank.;)

If I miss vacuuming the tank for 4 or 5 days (which doesnt happen often, I try to do it every other day), the amount of crap is unreal.
