So if i get a nice powerful aftermarket light, what do I use to cover the top of the tank? I mean, I i have the stock lighting hood that has the lid and lights built in and i get rid of that in place of a new lighting system, then I have nothing to cover the tank. What do you do in that situation?

yup as mg said you can have one custom cut at a glass shop then just order the hinge/handle/back strip and your set

you really dont even need that. you really just need the handle. hinge can just use silicon and you really dont need a back strip.

Just noticed the tanks in your signature are bow fronts.....links wont do you any good. You may have to get some custom cut to account for the bow front.

im good with the 28 bow actually. I was more thinking for the 55. It has the all in one hood/light thing and I am eventually going to want to get some nice high powered lights in the future, thus getting rid of the current hood. I wasn't sure if running an open top would be ok or not. I'd be afraid of fish jumping out. Also, you are going to evaporate water a lot faster I'm thinking

yes it might evaporate faster and fish might jump two reasons why having one might be a good idea.

You'd probably need to custom order a top from a glass shop, majority of retailers only have the common 28/36/46/72gal glass tops.
