Since these are microgeophagus can I assume that they have the same behavior of Geophagus and need to have a sandy substrate? If so, how much sand would I need to fill a 55 Gallon aquarium?

They are pretty similar to ramirezi, but seem to be a bit less timid. They still are fine in a community tank though. As far as sand goes, I'd say at least 70 lbs, though it isn't necessary by any means.
