I need ideas for tankmates for dwarf lionfish - fish that are big enough not to be prey but that would be suitable for a 30 gallon.

any other suggestions or input would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks!

Are you planning on having any corals (can restrict your choice of fish)? I had 2 banggai cardinals in with mine and no problems. My only loss was when my dwarf ate my sexy shrimp!!!!

Are you aware that dwarf lions can be tricky to feed. Make sure you see it eating at the LFS before you get it, if you haven't already.

I recommend reading a PocketExpert guide Reef fishes. It tells you about compatibility issues, size restrictions etc.

I'm not planning on corals, just FOWLR

no small critters like shrimp or crabs of course.

I'm planning on starting them on live shrimp to start with and then wean them gradually onto frozen and such. I know the people at my lfs, so I'll ask them to keep an eye on them when they come in.

any other fish suggestions? (I like cardinals, i just want to get a wider range of options before i make the decision :-) )

Dwarf Lions are predatory fish, in the wild.... on small fish and crustaceans.
But they aren't all that aggresive.
Most common saltwater fish given about the same size and suitable for a 30 gallon tank will work just fine.
If at first, a little nipping here and there happens, just simply re arrange the tank and have them re-establish terrotories.
